Mumio contains inorganic and organic compounds (products of the metabolism of hydrocarbons, petroleum products )and plant remains (m.g. mulberry and juniper ), algae and lichens, which, entering the crevices of rocks, form dead organic matter. It takes the form of lumps or crystals with the consistency of tar or resin. It takes on a color ranging from yellowish-brown to brown to black. The word mummy in Greek means protect, purify.
