Haya Labs Melatonin Time Release is a dietary supplement in tablets containing extended-release melatonin.
Melatonin is also often referred to as the ‘darkness hormone’ or the ‘sleep hormone‘. It is mainly produced in the pineal gland, a gland located deep within the brain, and reaches increased concentrations as the day progresses – the later the day, the higher the melatonin levels in the body. The highest concentration of melatonin is reached at night, usually from midnight to 3am. Additionally, melatonin ‘responds’ to the time of year, due to the length of light. Melatonin is the most important in regulating the human biological clock. It is its current level in the body that influences feelings of sleepiness. Interestingly, melatonin is also produced in the eyes (in the retina) and in the bone marrow and intestines, regardless of the time of day. In the digestive system, melatonin directs bowel movements.
